Bio

Rena is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Certified Nutritionist (CN), Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (DipACLM), and Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) Certified Trainer. She is currently completing training toward board certification as a Health and Wellness Coach. 

Rena’s therapeutic style is warm, engaging, client-centered, and trauma-informed. She is experienced in working with PTSD, depression, and anxiety and in providing support through grief and life transitions. Rena earned an MA in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University in 2022 and completed her licensure while working at a community mental health agency in King County. She integrates evidence-based therapeutic modalities into her work, including Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Rena is an EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) certified therapist. 

Rena provides nutrition education and consultation on the role of nutrition in metabolic health. She earned an MS in Nutrition Science from Bastyr University in 2022 and, after graduating, passed the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) board certification exam. Rena follows ACLM recommendations to provide clients with up-to-date, evidence-based care and supports them in developing sustainable lifestyle habits to improve metabolic health and reduce risks associated with lifestyle-related chronic disease.

By mid-October 2026, Rena will have completed a six-month Health & Wellness Coaching Certificate Program through Emory University Continuing Education. She is passionate about empowering each client to develop their own unique health and wellness vision and create doable action plans to optimize their health and well-being. During the final three months of 2026, Rena is offering health and wellness coaching sessions at 50% off while completing the coaching experience required in preparation for the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching certification exam.

Rena has been a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) since 2010 and has a fine-tuned awareness of patterns of thought and expression that can either strengthen or detract from quality of connection with ourselves and others. She is experienced in working with individuals and groups to develop skills in self-empathy, empathy, and making clear, collaborative requests aimed at meeting needs. Rena welcomes inquiries about individual support, empathy groups, workshops, and retreats.
