I have been part of the Healing Arts Center since 1988. My specialty is TRAGER Psychophysical Integration; a mouthful to say, yes, but very lovely to feel. The Trager Approach involves an ‘educated’ stretching of the body’s tissues, encouraging opening, release and integration through an experience of undulations and rocking, articulation of joints, all within an “attitude” of light, freeing, effortless movement. Trager works deeply and holistically with the mind-body, pain free. I am also adept in Swedish massage and can accommodate a client’s desire for Lomi Lomi, some deep tissue work, stone massage, pregnancy, postpartum, chair massage, and injury and illness treatment. I am self-educated in nutrition, use of plant oils (DoTerra) and plant essences (Perelandra). I constantly delve into the subject of Consciousness through many avenues including the Avatar courses created by Harry Palmer. My current study is meridian massage incorporating the benefit of this ancient energy awareness with other modalities and knowledge; I continue to integrate for our mutual wellbeing. This experience ignited in me a passion to learn the work, and a desire to bring such well-being to others. My initial training took me to Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2001 where I studied the art of traditional Thai massage with master teachers for two years. I returned to the US and attended The New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts, receiving a diploma in 2003. My bodywork has been deeply informed by the integration of east and west traditions. Deep tissue muscle release combined with Thai stretching techniques open up energy blocks, promote flexibility, and bring the body to an overall sense of balance. Through my ability to listen to the body, I create a treatment that’s needed in the moment. My massage has been described as “relaxing, yet energizing”. During my decades of practice I have massaged people of all ages, with many different needs. I offer in-person, telehealth, and walk-and-talk sessions and frequently do a combination. I work with people across identities, lived experiences, and relationship styles. My non-judgmental approach and compassion toward conflicting feelings resonates especially well with folks impacted by individual and collective trauma/grief, encountering a significant life transition, living with anxious/depressive feelings and thought patterns, or simply wanting to engage in supported reflection. Talk therapy with me covers a full spectrum of topics. We may explore impacts and understandings of past narratives, meaningful relationships, current events, emotional/behavioral awareness, overall mental wellness, possible ways to move from insight to change, or simply what’s going on in your day-to-day life. My approach is responsive to the individual and does not exclusively utilize any single methodology. Informed by my years of experience working within complex systems, I pull from a range of therapeutic strategies, including but not limited to mindfulness-based cognitive, psychodynamic, existential humanistic, and polyvagal theory-based somatic therapies. In my free time outside of the therapy room, I learn as much as possible about birds and continue to work on my bread baking skills. I also love to read and will many times check out books that people I work with resonate with or recommend. Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you are looking to return, starting outside support with someone new is a big deal.
